E-85 Conversion Kit

Plain and simple - I am buying one of these units asap. You can convert your car to switch between E-85 and Gasoline with the flick of a switch and conversting the car is easy as plug and play (or Plug & Drive i nthis case.)

Ron, I actually have a serious response.  Unless you are a mechanic (or at least work on cars a lot) I probably wouldn't go this route.  It messes with injector timings and fuel ratios by supplementing the ECU.  While the install might be fairly simple, if you ever have a problem, you can't take it anywhere.  I know that this is something that I wouldn't trust myself to do.  Also, if you have a newer car that is still under warranty, this will void it.

I can't either unless I get a really good deal on it. Cars are a lousy investment. If you buy a $30k car, it loses 30% right off the showroom floor, so now it's worth $21,000. Drive it the average of 12k miles a year for 2-3 years, (24k-36k in miles), and now you take the 2nd biggest hit in value, so now that $30k turned 21k car is now going to sell for 15k-18k and in basically 2-3 years time, the 30k car lost 50% of its value.

My current car is from 1996, has 58k original miles on it, runs like a top and I paid $3,500 cash for it. Works for me. I'll try it for probably 5-10 years, then I'll buy something else.

Yeah, I may not be driving a brand new or even a newer car, but then I don't have the expense of it either. As for "keeping up with the Jones", who the fuck are they anyway? Unless they are buying me a car, fuck 'em. .....and I certainly don't need to buy something for status/to impress people. You know what they say about status... you buy shit you don't need, so you can impress people you don't give a fuck about anyway. Now to me, that's fucking insanity.

No, not at all. What I should do is get a crap car to install it on, see how it runs and if the car is destoyed, no loss. However, before I buy it, I will investigate it further. I think you made some valid points to consider.

I may have been a little drunk and his responses seemed like well hidden jabs.  Apologies Ron.

 Ron, you'l also need to change your fuel lines.  E-85 cant be run thru OEM rubber fuel lines not made for Ethenol, especially in older cars.  It will cause more harm than good. You also need a fuel pump that can handle conductive fuel like E85, where gasoline is considered non-conducting  Read up on Wikipedia about it, or other sites.

My glorious suv can run on E85.  I had a road trip and tested it out.  Turns out it cost quite a bit more to run the E85 because of the poor mileage I got on it.  The discounted price was not enough to offset. 

Hmmmmm I am going to have to research this further. Everyone brought up some good points form e to consider; and considering I don't know a whole lot about cars, you brought up things I hadn't considered like the fuel lines for one. Thanks :)
