Not local, of course, but I found this surprising. I kinda thought that with Todd Lewis as the real force behind both that band and Burden Brothers, there'd be no real reason to reunite, but I guess this name has the built in cache and catalog that will put a few more butts in the seats. I try not to be a fan of nostalgia, but I'm bummed they're not coming here and will likely buy the new album when it comes out.

They're playing the Annex in Madison and Lollapalooza in Chicago.
BB was a really different band. I never cared for Taz Bently much. Too many years touring with the Reverend maybe? And who the hell were those other two dudes, look like some emo dudes that just jumped out of the Mystery Machine.
It'll be fun to see Todd, Mark and Clark again. I'm really glad they never buried the hatchett with Lisa, waste of space she was.

Gotta completely disagree with this statement.
Immitation is the best form of flatery.
Why? She never wrote one note of a Toadies bass line.
Does one have to compose in order to make a viable contribution to a project?

... in your shiny blue bicycle threads. Man, that avatar creeps me out.
Is it true that she wasn't a contributing member in any way other than playing prescribed parts? I'm not convinced that exempts her from any credit, but it does change my perspective somewhat.
Todd and Clark wrote all her parts. And she isn't a very nice person to be around.
I love The Toadies.
Rubberneck - a completely priceless gem of an album
Hell Below / Stars Above - meh
I'll probably buy the album... but I'm not "stoked" for it by any means.
Rubberneck is one of those rare albums that's pretty much perfect. I'd be hard pressed to identify anything I don't like about that album, in context. An album like that is a tough act to follow.
You know who else sucks? All those dudes like Yitzhak Perlman and Yo Yo Ma and whatnot. Somebody else wrote all their parts.
Who cares.
No one ever said she sucks becasue she didn't write her parts. I think she sucks as a person. And, since she had no input on the material her loss will not affect the music put out.
Try reading the posts in context before you come down on me.
Oooh, Josh is feisty.
Josh:You know who else sucks? All those dudes like Yitzhak Perlman and Yo Yo Ma and whatnot. Somebody else wrote all their parts.
Thank you.

An earlier post of yours implied (at least the way I interpreted it) that she was a waste of space because those other two cats wrote all her parts.
Check your posts.
And how is it that someone, when actually performing a piece of music, has "no affect on the music put out" simply because they didn't compose the part. One could argue that her lack of input could be what made the music great. Sub in another player who's eager to contribute to songwriting and the song takes a different turn for sure. Toadies suddenly aren't Toadies.
Anthony Michael Anthony: I'm really glad they never buried the hatchett with Lisa, waste of space she was. Gotta completely disagree with this statement.
It was in response to this post. I knew what he meant and thought the info would have an effect on his opinion. It did.
I'm sorry I offended you and Josh so deeply. Lisa worked in a bank with Mark, they taught her to play bass because they needed a bass player. She was rude, loud, obnoxious and had a Rev Horton Heat attitude most of the time. No one will miss her. You can keep going on and on about the effect she had, but you could put any session player in there and get the same (or better) results. It seems the rest of the Toadies agree with me since she hasn't been playing with them since the Interscope days.
You should get off your miniature high horse.
Folkerts: Hell Below / Stars Above - meh
There are some clunkers, for sure, but I'd put "Push the Hand" and "Heel" up against ANY tune on Rubberneck. AWESOME, AWESOME, rock songs.
That would explain why I listen to and enjoy Live from Paradise much more than HBSA.
Killer tunes indeed.
The first time I listened to that live album was during work while hanging out in musicscene chat, funny enough.
