Nick:

I think I'm gonna start a band.  Anyone want in?

Sure!  I've always wanted to join a group that's together for six months, breaks up, reforms 3 months later for another 6 months, breaks up, re-unites again after 3 months, breaks up after 6...

...wait...

I'm already in one of those.

Never mind. Stick out tongue

Man....why don't we hang out more often?

It's a mystery that can only be solved by 12 rounds of ro-sham-bo.

Anyone remember the "Find Your Own Way" local film from 2005? I just watched that again not too long ago. The scene is a lot different than it was 3 years ago.

Regarding Quietdrive.

1)  Mostly unrelated...but related at the same time:  I was listening to "Sound Opinions" on MPR (the current) yesterday and they were going over the death of Jerry Wexler (signed/produced Aretha, Zep, Wilson Pickett, Dylan, Ray Charles)... and they were very complementary of his "ear"... and ability to identify talent and guide it in a way that unlocks legends.

The conversation, sadly, turned to the fact that we don't have any Wexlers anymore with big record labels.   That is sad.  Instead we have marketing (damn them! Cool) opportunists who convince bands like Quietdrive to sound "like this" or "like that" and dangle the carrot... it sucks.

2)  Chris Hawkey (KFAN personality) and his musical tastes drive me insane.  Love Quietdrive.  Loves Warrant.  Loves The Hold Steady?  WTF?  Wink

The new Gingerjake songs are pretty fuckin cool. I heard their new song Save You on the Sonic Bids site and it sounds a little like Nine Inch Nails meets the Breeders.

Ha  that bio in the EPK is funny in so many seperate ways!   You'll have to read it, then you'll understand.

I'm a little confused about this line though, "Gingerjake is one of those rare breeds of hot female-fronted bands that have found continued success in the Rock Music scene by way of a hard-knocks grass roots approach, rather than the Mickey Mouse Club/American Idol route."

Didn't Amanda used to perform Brittney Spears style shit before GinerJoke?

Maybe, but she wasn't actually on the show...it was mostly performed in her livingroom, or closet if her brothers got mad.
