As many of you know, Art-A-Whirl is on the weekend of May 16th, 17th, and 18th.  Art-A-Whirl is a massive open-studio event in Northeast Minneapolis, with more than 500 studios open and more than 40,000 visitors.  This year, Area 52's building is on the tour, and is scheduled to be the semi-official Art-A-Whirl music launch party location.

It's been nearly two years since our last Band Night, so it's about time.  You can see pictures of the last band night here:

http://www.area-52.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5052

Friday Night:  Music starts at 8:00 with full-length sets by Kymara, Shift, and Iced Ink (one more might be added).  Sometime between 11:00 and 12:00, the stage will open for any band that wants to play.  Three songs maximum, sign-up when you get there.  Amps, drums, and PA provided.  Bring everything else you want to use.

Saturday Night:  Music starts at 8:00 with full-length sets by Seven Days Remain, Oceans, and Nemo Joe (one more might be added). Sometime between 11:00 and 12:00, the stage will open for any band that wants to play.  Three songs maximum, sign-up when you get there.  Amps, drums, and PA provided.  Bring everything else you want to use.

There is absolutely no charge for anything, and nothing is for sale.  BYOB.  Legal drinking age strictly enforced.

For more information about Art-A-Whirl, visit the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Associan's website at:

http://www.nemaa.org/webpage.php?webpage_name=ART-A-WHIRL

(Area 52 is in the Casket Arts Carriage House, at 1720 Madison Street Northeast.  The Carriage House and the Casket Arts Building next door are the main attractions at Art-A-Whirl this year, as they are the newest and biggest arts buildings in Northeast!)

Oh, and if anyone is interested in doing a solo acoustic singer/songwriter sort of thing during the day on either day, both buildings are having music in the lobbies on small stages set up for that purpose.  The Casket Arts Building has four huge lobbies, and the Carriage House has two smaller ones.  Lots of walk-through traffic in both locations.  There are several time slots left.  These stages will be open from 5:00 to 8:00 on Friday night, and Noon until 8:00 on Saturday.  Call me (David) at 612-834-4406 if you would like to schedule yourself.
