You know me too well.  But I actually haven't preordered it.  It's been vaporware for a while and only recently they showed a demo.  But yeah, this game might give me a good excuse to update my computer.  It's in dire need of an upgrade.

My son watches tons of youtube vids about it.  He'll sit and watch a 40 minute lecture about the thing.  Considering I can't even get Battle for Middle Earth 2 to work on our pc...I forsee an upgrade in our future too.

Wait a minute, I thought you proclaimed yourself solely a linux guy a while back.  You're not banking on being able to run this in Wine or Cedega are you?

Shit drives me crazy.  Nick walked me through a ton of options.  We tried everything but it still doesn't work.  At first, it wouldn't recognize the gameplay disc.  It let me load all six discs but when I went to play it, it would ask for Disc One even though it was in the player.  So we loaded in a no Cd crack and now it lets me load a game or skirmish but everything shuts down just when the game should begin.  Locks up the computer.  Gives me some bullshit about a script making my computer unstable or something.

Really frustrating.

I have high hopes for Wine.  So far, I've gotten quite a few things to work on there.

Man, I'm starting to get frustrated too lol! FYI in the future always dl a demo of the game before you buy it, just to ensure it works properly with your hardware. At this point, I would completely remove the program and all the installation folders, reboot, reinstall, try normally, then go through and (after checking EACH EXE with winclam) try every crack you can find at www.gamecopyworld.com and sometimes www.megagames.com works. Also, loan your install discs out to other people (you trust) and have them try it as well, just don't register it and have the internet disconnected when they do.

UUUuuugh sorry had a few its actually clamwin go dl it here   http://www.clamwin.com/   its a GREAT antivirus prog that works very effing well with AVG (also free)  If you ever get a notification from AVG (ESPECIALLY with EXE's, AVG will give you alot of false positives) don't immediately dump the file, check it first with Clamwin, you must run the program (after installing, when right clicking on an exe, you should now see the option to check with clamwin)  Exe's can carry some nasty payloads that won't show up 'til they're executed. Remember to COMPLETELY delete that program i.e. search registries, program folders, etc then try a reinstall. I would bet my life that you don't have corrupt media, just invalid entries from "ahem" more than one attempted install??? Also, I can't guarantee clamwin's performance with any other real time scanning antivirus progs, just AVG, which is prob the best (maybe close second to Kaspersky, but better price FREE) What part of town do you stay in? I would be more than happy to test that software for you in exchange for a cold beer or something!
