Have you heard Doolittle by the Pixies? That is where Grohl got the sounds for it. Also the b side song "The Colour and the shape"  Is the best song from that recording period. Gil also did the latest record.

I'm still mad the title track didn't make the cut.  Whatever THAT'S about...  I knew he did Pixies stuff, but never zeroed in on what record(s).  Thank you!

I like the new record, but I like the in-your-face-ness about Colour.

I had a near-transcendental moment with the record the summer after my high school graduation.  I was riding shotgun in my buddies jeep, just driving around the lake, cause...well....that's what you do in Bemidji when it's too early to be drinking.  We were listening to "New Way Home", and when it breaks WAAAY down in the middle, after all the cheesy stuff, we CRANKED it.  After the 2 or 3 minutes of building back up, I'm pretty sure we nearly asploded all the jeep's speakers when it kicked back in.  I probably have permanent hearing damage as a result, as well.  I've only had a couple genuine "Oh my god!  This is one of the greatest moments of my life" moments just from listening to music, but that was definitely one of them.  That song has never sounded as good since, but man....that ruled!

Immitation is the best form of flatery.

Chris Sheldon mixed it.  He also mixed Oceansize "effloresce", "music for nurses" and "frames".

He good.

He mixed Jeff Beck's Who Else? and Anthrax's Volume 8 too.

Scat by numbers.

wow... thanks to wikipedia I just found out that Chris Sheldon mixed Therapy?'s "Troublegum" as well.

SCREW THAT, FORGET ABOUT THAT, I DON'T WANNA THINK ABOUT ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

Lyrical genius on that record....

At the risk of looking dumb because you already know this and I'm misinterpreting sincerity as sarcasm, the song is about teenagers.  It's dumb on purpose.  OR, it's dumb not on purpose, but masquerading as dumb on purpose, which is GENIUS!

I loved Therapy around that time.  That said, I have a lot of tongue and cheek fun with his lyrics....probably moreso on the delivery than the intent (which admittedly I hadn't ever given much thought till then).  Maybe its his funny accent.  I don't remember how I was gonna reply to your post anymore.  Carry on.  Big Smile

I'm a lot more sensitive about the stuff I listen to than I should be, especially given that I listen to a lot of crap.
