Just when I thought Weezer couldn't get any DUMBER. They release something like this and totally redeem themselves.

Seriously, this band should have kept it hung up after Pinkerton

I miss Matt Sharp

They are the new version of The Offspring

I swear. I'll lighten up any day now.

Are you saying they redeemed themselves with this or not? Confused by the two statements back to back.

Just found it odd that you said they redeemed themselves if you didn't like it. Pinkerton is the only album I'd save if there was a fire in my weezer collection.

I heard it, thought it was pretty good.  Does sound blue albumish.  Also being a bass player and knowing how little a difference we make unless yer jaco or victor wooten or some crazy bass player like that I don't know how you can possibly miss Matt Sharp.  Besides, you should be happy for him, he's friends with pee.  Just like people saying they miss Nick Oliveri from queens.  It's ridiculous.

Have you listened to the Green Album or Any of the Queens stuff after songs for the Deaf? If you think there isn't a difference in the quality of the tunes I would strongly suggest listening to them again. As far as the bass not making a difference unless they are Jaco,  I think you have a lot to learn about the bassists job in a band.  I still like Weezer and I LOVE Queens but to say that Matt Sharp or Nick didn't make a difference is CRAZY. They are like 2 different bands now In My Opinion.

You ever watch that Ron Burgandy bonus material with him trying out for Sportscenter?  Where he says, "That's just dumb."

Toma is very right about Queens/Nick. VERY right. ...and I love "Era Vulgaris".

Though I have been playin with the Smokes for almost twelve years now ( playin total for 19) and it is a noticable difference with someone else filling in for me I just really haven't noticed a difference with those two bands.  So don't worry, I know what the "jorb" of the bass player is in a band.  I just disagree that they made that big of a difference in their respective bands.

There's a big difference between a fill in and a member change.  Nick obviously had a tremendous influence in the songwriting process for QOTSA, and he always had the 2 or so songs that he sang/hollered on.  Any time you swap out a song writer the band changes.  I agree though, if the bass player isn't doing any writing then there won't be that much of a difference.

Immitation is the best form of flatery.

Yeah cuz "Quick and to the pointless" was what broke them.  I agree with the writing aspect.  But I still disagree with those two players bein anything special.  I like them but it didn't change the band and any time you get a meth head in yer band, they gotta go.  Matt left.  Quit yer cryin.

What Broke Queens was Lost Art of Keeping a Secret. A song Nick helped write. And he was kick out of Queens for Throwing beer a bottle at a 16 year old girl and hitting her in the face with it. Also he was beating his wife apparently. I don't think Josh has a problem with anyone doing drugs. If you can't hear a difference I'm not going to tell you otherwise. I can hear a big difference.

Exactly, it's not the end of the world.  It's just an opinion.  You guys get all upset about a band yer not even in.  You don't need to defend them.  It also doesn't make you any more of a musician or me any less of one.  Yay!  Oh, have you ever had a meth head in your band before?  I have.  They gotta go.

I think both are correct in a way.  Bass plays a bigger part than most give credit for.  On the other hand, I like the newer Weezer stuff just as much as the old.  Not ALL of it, but most of it.
