What is your opinion on the rise of bands like:
4 Letter Lie, Sing It Loud, Write this down, Camera Cant Lie, Lights Out Dancing
These are some of the top bands in the rock genre on Myspace.com, and with the exception of a few of these bands, they play shows together all the time and they seem to be in different genres (Light rock, screamo, hardcore,) but it seem there is something trendy that the crowd takes away from these guys. Is it the look, is it the music? What are your thoughts on these bands and bands like them, how much staying power do they have?

If that's the new trend, it would certainly explain why I'm not trendy at all.
What were the dropped D playing, Tribal Flame button up and Jenco wearing Trend all about?
Same thing differnet decade.
Interesting, do you predict the downfalls of these bands sometime soon.
I predict the downfall of populatiry of a certain style but that isn't rocket science.
It just seems crazy sometimes. For example, Sing it Loud Formed last April, Their first show was a Sold out Garage Crowd, There 2nd show with Quietdrive, and so on. COuntless local bands threw them on their top page as well as many fans, and now they are signed to Epitaph. The whole thing to me just seemed to happen overnight and it seems like its trendy to like them for bands, clubs, and of course people. I just dont know how it happened to fast...
My question is why do you care, I venture you yo be a groupie trying to get their name out there by asking pretty obvious questions and then throwing in the name or a band and along with their high light real while trying not to give away your real intentions. You're not the first on here to try this approach but really honestly is the best policy. If you are here to promote Sing it Loud or whoever just do it.
Getting signed isn't anything, most bands that this happens to are worse off then they were prior. However, in this case labels are looking to sign bands that fit a certain look or style that was usually started by others. From this pile of like sounding music a few will survive and the rest will go back to obscurity where they belong.
lol, not quite, I havent even taken the time to let their full profile load. I was naming an example. I care because I would like to see if anyone could give me insight possibly from someone who has seen this before, to tell me what they or some of the other bands are doing right so I might do the same, and of course to promote discussion.
The Drizzle: lol, not quite, I havent even taken the time to let their full profile load. I don't believe you, number 1 this is your only post and also you seem to know a lot about a band that you haven't taken the time to open the profile of. I was naming an example. Do the same? You mean be trendy? Okay here you go, you want to hop on this bus here's what you do. Get a Teen Beat Magazine look at how all the bands are dressing and doing their hair and do the same. See what kind of stage presence is popular right now, and mock it. Keep up your looks and try to sound like everything else. You might just be lucky enough to make yourself as forgetable as Sing It Loud or Quiet Drive. On the other hand you can just be yourself and quit comparing yourself to others unless of course you have a guitar but no direction, than go ahead an follow the pack. What other bands would you like to promote?

Lets talk about Sweet Addiction. I noticed that they are playing shows again. I havent seen them play, but I believe They are on the same shows as bands like Buried By Hope. To me, that presents the same issue as the testement show, or maybe it doesnt. What is the crowd like in these shows, are they embracing them, are they showing up late for the heavier acts?
Discuss...
Let's talk about you.
Who do you like, who do you play with currently?

Apparently it's a myspace thing. They probably spend hours adding friends or do the whore train thing.
Myspace whoring is actually is a good way to get lable attention I guess. Maybe having a crazy number of myspace friends (even if a majority of them don't honestly know anything about them).....could possibly be ALL it takes, in some cases (look at Tila Tequila. *shudders*).
I kind of find it odd, considering the amount of concerts I go to around here, that I've never heard of any of these supposedly uber-popular/successful groups....but, whatever.

Hence why the Drizzle is here to act like they are not promoting them.
As far as who I like ranges from local bands like This World Fair and Love in October, to heavier bands like Dying Euphoria and Vulnurata. I spent alot of time over the years, Bands like Hook Echo and Sunset Black and Minus 3 got me into the local scene. Since Then, Ive been digging local music and I like to keep an eye on whats out there. I like to see whats on the rise, whats on the downfall, and maybe being aware of everything I may be able to identify fads better and stay away from them. As far as my band, Ill spare them the sting of Musicscene flame throwers
P.S. you didnt answer my question, I at least answered yours half way..
Next time I ask a questing ill be sure not to name bands, buti am in the same boat as you on this one,
Not good enough there chicken
btw avoiding fads is equal to following.them
I see you're struggling with your identity which in fact no one can help you with
I do feel knowing what is big out there can really impact your band. For example, There was a time when promoting on musicsce.org was my biggest means of online show promoting, now by watching and learning from other bands I can see newer ways to reach a bigger group of people.
Identity Crisis- Maybe, I try to keep my sound current within reason, because my style changes, I am not going to start a grunge band in 2008 (however the whole puddle of mud thing...) But I do think its good to know what people are into and why especially if youre trying to reach a target market...
