    On a personal note

Has anyone else ever, maybe directly or maybe in directly, put their foot in their mouth and called their significant other a scenster.

For sure to make our marriage blooper reel.

Oh, that's dumb.  Really dumb.  Good luck and enjoy your stay on the couch.  I, however, shouldn't talk.  There only thing I enjoy more than building a sand castle, is completely and utterly obliterating it with my own stupidity.

Its only offensive if its somewhat true.  My wife wouldn't be pissed if I called her a scenester.  She'd ask what it meant and then roll out to the new Horton movie or the elementary school.

Not an issue for us.  We're sort of the scenester anthesis.

I have, however, called my boyfriend many other things that he didn't care for.  The thing he hated the most?  When I accidently called him by my ex's name.  Luckily it was during a fight and not, uh, something else.  And in my defense, their names are only one vowel different.

What happened was that I we were discussing our differences and mentioned that one of them was, she was more interested knowing everyone that plays in all these bands and I'd rather just listen to the music.  Basically as the conversation carried on I was saying she doesn't care about music as much as I do, she just cares about hanging out with musicians.  It wasn't a fight, well until I said the above.

Granted it's how we met in the first place Big Smile

I can be such an idiot sometimes, never on the politial forum mind you,  but at home with my wife.

    Is it true?

    Good question GG

As the discussion healed itself I accepted the following.

I think it all derives from perception and what you get out of music.

I like listening to everything I can get my hands on and she mainly stays with what she's familiar with, which to me is boring.  She also likes to meet the people that play the music and I think it takes away from the music to get to familiar with the artist behind it.  Usually they turn out to be a major disapointment.

Here's an analogy that might help:

We are the same way with food, she doesn't like to try new things and I'm more adventurous.

Does that mean I like food more than she does?

No it just means we're different in that aspect, we both enjoy food equally but for different reasons.

I won't ever understand why we do what we do but we can respect our differences.

For lack of a better word I chose scenester.

Basically someone who values hanging or being "scene" with musicians over actually apreciating the music.

It wasn't said directly but as the conversation progressed I started shooting from the hip and it was basically implied.

Well.  My boyfriend told me last week that it was his turn to be fat.

It took him about .5 seconds to fully realize what all he had said with those few words.

Yeeesh. There's no emoticon for his transgression. Even if you say it yourself, a man is never allowed to concur, or address it as such.

Need a carpenter for the doghouse?
