GG doesn't remember him from the last rally, and likes to call out the posers.

    Damn!

This is one of those exceptionally rare moments where I'm rendered utterly speechless.

    Fantastic shot.

Ok cool.  I can't speak for anyone else but I'm not holding any grudges.  I wish you wouldn't call us "you people" cause it sorta sounds KKK-ish but no biggie.

Now observe as I take a few bullets for you to prove my sincerity.

    *ahem*

Metallica sucks dog dicks and I'm not even slightly kidding.

I don't know.  I think Korn had some okay stuff.  I saw them open for Orange 9mm in 1994/5 at First Ave.

    Drummerkidwhoever:

Have you considered just changing your wording when looking for people and calling it a jam band? Cause that's what it sounds like to me.  I think part of the problem you're having is your age.  Like GG (I think) said, most people who are interested in jamming and not seeking "fortune and glory" are a lot older than you and, unfortunately, most people that age have no desire to play with young kids because of the usually attendant issues of unreliability, drunkenness, drug use et al.  Not saying that you have those issues but a lot of 24 year old musicians do.  And older folks who do want to jam often can't really commit to doing it regularly because they have jobs, school, spouses, children. That seemingly boundless energy you have now and being able to go on like 4 hours of sleep?  Enjoy it while you can cause it will disappear in about 5 years.

When you are at shows for bands you like, talk to people.  I'm under the impression that many bandmates met eachother at shows.  Don't discount people because what they say are influences.  Being influenced by a band doesn't mean that you want to play stuff just like them.  Most musicians listen to tons and tons of music and don't necessarily desire to limit their playing to emulations of 1, 2, 3 bands.

Okay, Everybody...for S&Gs:  What would you consider your "influences" and what kind of band are you in or were you in and what are your 5 most listened to artists.

(sorry for all the stupid ass posts this week...we're on Spring Break, almost everyone is gone and I think I've had 25 phone calls and 15 e-mails all week.  I'm boooooored.)

Sick Of It All headlined, right?  This was Spring Break of 1995 when I was up here with my wife (then girlfriend) looking for a place to live before moving up here permanently in May.  We were driving somewhere and I saw the flyer on a pole and said to her "Can we go?"  It was cool.

Yep! That was the show.  I don't really remember any of it.  The only reason I have an inkling of when it was is because it was coldish out and I was preggers.

Chica said it right with this..."When you are at shows for bands you like, talk to people.  I'm under the impression that many bandmates met eachother at shows."

The NUMBER ONE thing you can do in this town (and I'd venture to say ANY town) is to network.  I repeat:  NETWORK.  Bands form from the friendships you make with other musicians - and even if you LOVE the band you're currently in, who knows what will happen?  My old band played with my current band a number of times.  An admiration on behalf of the other band (my now current band) was the catalyst for the "wanna join our band?" phone call I got.  Had we not hung out and and checked each other's bands out (i.e. network), they wouldn't have known to call me, and I wouldn't have known to say "yes".  It's all quite simple, really.   Catch shows...let a drummer know you think he kicks ass, talk gear with a killer bassist...whatever.

If you wanna start and experimental band start it with this guy.  His music is pretty much unlistenable.  You know if you want to have a groove that is.  Nothin better than swingin in 13/16  http://www.youtube.com/drzoltan
