I'm not sure I've really bought any new albums this year, just been catching up on older albums. The one album that I've yet to buy, but have been listening to tons at work is the soundtrack to Once, it's just a wonderful album, written mainly by the singer of The Frames. Love it.

Here we go:

Every Time I Die - "The Big Dirty" It's big and it's dirty...sweet rock-tinged metal at its finest.

Between the Buried and Me - "Colors" - these geeks are taking prog-metal into new dimensions with their latest masterpiece

Dillinger Escape Plan - "Ire Works" - I was devestated earlier this year when founding member and a huge influence of mine, Chris Pennie left the band for Coheed and Cambria. However, with maniac drummer Gil Sharone and new guitarist Jeff Tutle they are back to rearrange the faces of all the DEP wannabe's

Tons more I needs to gets released this year

Self Evident -"S/T"

Today is the Day- "Axis of Eden"(With Derek Roddy on drums!)

Nine Inch Nails - "Year Zero"

For 2008 -

Ghengis Tron -"Board Up the House"

Oh wow, how could I forget some other goody!!

Neurosis- "Given To the Rising" - They recorded this album in 6 DAYS!! With Steve Albini at the helm, this album brings back the crushing dynamics of "Time of Grace" with the subtle nuances of "A Sun that Never Sets"

Is the new Bad Brains really that good?  I'll have to check it out.

The new Bad Brains is not life altering like everything up to Quickness, but it is solid.

If you love em, you'll like it. If you like them, you'll probably pass.  Hope that makes sense.

P.S. They have it at the North Regional Library.  You can check it out there...

J_Taffe:

Biffy Clyro "Puzzle"  - though after listening to it non-stop for like a month, its pretty much shelved now.

I picked this up based on your reco.  Great record.  Thanks for the tip.

Anyone else think this sounds like the Foo Fighters?  I mean, that's not bad or anything...

They're totally the Foo Fighters of the U.K.

A main stager at Leeds and Reading there, a Fine Line sized club band here.

Okay, I want to preface this by saying that I actually do like this record, arena hooks and all.  But a thought just came to me and I felt I had to share it.

Isn't this band (and the Foo Fighers I suppose) just a shitty singer and a clothing endorsement away from being an emo band?

....assy guitar tones, metal-derived cliche mosh riffs within pop songs, shitty singer, and clothing endorsements.  Everybody is these four things away from being an emo band, dude.  Thankfully, they're fairly easy things to leave out of your music.
