No robot in disguise, that Marnie Stern. The fan-made YouTube clips for Gnarls Barkley's "Transformer" typically went straight for the Hasbro-inspired TV series imagery, but the Dylan Mulick-directed video for Stern's own fret-tapping track of the same name offers something a little more cosmic. "How can I be all these things to you?" Stern repeats on the song's big chorus; the clip shows her being a whole lot of different things, culminating in a red-lit Stern singing in front of an outer-space backdrop. It all starts with a more basic view of Stern performing on a TV screen, but as a whole the video could be taken to suggest that the present wouldn't exist without the past, and the next jump is ours (and Stern's) to figure the hell out. Or it might've just been supposed to look pretty cool. Either way, there's really no way for me to tie this back to Optimus Prime, is there? (via Stereogum)
