Rebelliously refusing to wait until the full 20th anniversary of that album next March, the local late-90s alt-rock champs will return to the Mainroom, Dec. 15 and 16, to perform their 1998 breakthrough album in its entirety. (Yes, that’s the one with “Closing Time.”) Tickets go on sale this Friday, Sept. 15, at noon. (More info here.)
The band was just at First Ave for two nights in June, where they ran through all of their 1996 debut, Great Divide. (That event was more of a 21st anniversary celebration.) If you’re already nostalgic for the bygone days of early 2017, you can revisit our review of their Turf Club warmup show here, or flip through some photos of the Mainroom event itself here.
Semisonic frontman Dan Wilson is also performing at the Fitzgerald on Sept. 22. He recently released Re-Covered, which offers his versions of the songs he’s written for superstars like Adele and Taylor Swift.
See you sometime between 2020 and 2022 for the All About Chemistry shows.
